Iowa Collegiate Mathematics Competition
The Iowa Collegiate Mathematics Competition is held annually sometime between late February and early April. (See the events section to determine if the next ICMC has been scheduled.) We typically start at 10:00 a.m. with a “fun hour”, followed by lunch at and then the competition from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Teams should plan to arrive at the institution hosting the competition by 10 a.m. and leave by 4 p.m. There is a $10 registration fee for each team of 3 students, and lunch will need to be purchased too. Faculty should let the competition coordinator, Ruth Berger, know by mid-January if they want to be on an e-mail list with more detailed information, and let her know two weeks prior to the competition how many teams your institution plans to bring to the competition.
Results of Last Contest
The 29th anual ICMC was held on Saturday April 1, 2023, at the University of Iowa.
The winner is "Crystal Math" from the University of Iowa, with an impressive 95 points.
Second place goes to "Composite Composters", also from UI, with 90 points.
In third place is Luther College (80pts), followed closely by 4th place ISU (79pts).
The traveling trophy will be presented to UI at the Fall 2023 Iowa MAA meeting. Next year's competition will be hosted by 3rd place winners Luther College (scheduled for February 24, 2024), because the competition can not be hosted in the same location in consecutive years.
Congratulations to all participants!
